Kato USA
Kato USA is a model train company. As a Graphic Designer, I worked closely with the Marketing Communications Manager on the company's creative projects, from social media content creation and catalog design to other printed marketing materials. I also collaborated with the Marketing Manager on the redesign of the annual merchandise catalog, which, through our efforts, improved its overall cohesion compared to previous incarnations.

Catalog Design
One of the biggest projects I worked on was redesigning the entire annual Kato catalog, a publication listing all the latest and older models Kato sells. With the support of the Marketing Manager, our primary goal was to improve the consistency of the design elements while maintaining the core style of the yearly publication.
As you can see from the example, there were originally many different applications of typography. Some text was smaller, and sometimes longer in application. However, I felt that this original design made it less functional and organized as a design system, so my manager and I aimed to fix this.
The Newly Renovated Design
I rehauled the design, and now it's far more consistent. While photo applications can vary, the catalog is far more digestible. Another great example from the catalog, I would say!
Content Creation
Video Creation
I collaborated with the Marketing Manager on video content for their online audience via Instagram and YouTube. Our focus was on creating short-form videos, and through our collaboration, we noticeably improved their engagement with younger audiences.
Photo Editing
With editing, I went through a lengthy process of cutting out the train models, as well as editing them, including color retouching and dirt removal. This has ensured that all the train models showcased are perfect for demonstration.
Model Redesign in Photoshop
Occasionally, we had to upload photos of real-life models for social media but did not have access to them for various reasons beyond our control. So, I would do my magic and Photoshop the designs of the models as needed. We are transparent and mention that the image is only an artistic rendition in the social media graphics.
